Work with us

We're a Calgary company that takes how it treats its people seriously. Cleaning is the core of what we do today, and there'll be more roles beyond it as we grow. However you end up working with us, the way we run things stays the same. Here's what that looks like.

How we treat the people who work here

In this industry, cleaners are too often treated as easy to replace. I don't accept that. Everyone has something to offer, and if a manager can't see it, that's a failure of leadership. So here, you're paid properly from day one, the effort you put in gets noticed and rewarded, and if something isn't right you come to a manager who's approachable and always has time for you. I'm a firm believer that if you look after the people doing the work, the work looks after itself. And as we grow, there'll be real chances to take on more and to train up.

We pay well

Above the going rate in Calgary, with bonuses on top when the work's good. Decent people are worth keeping, so we pay them properly.

You can reach whoever's in charge

The owner runs the day to day and is easy to get hold of. If something's gone wrong or you've got a question, you go straight to someone who can sort it. You're not left waiting days for an answer.

It's all run through an app

Your shifts and your task lists live on your phone, so you always know what's coming up and what's expected of you. We're working from the same schedule at our end, so jobs don't get forgotten or doubled up.

We handle the planning

You'll know where you need to be and what's expected of you, without chasing anyone for it. We take care of the scheduling and the paperwork so you can turn up and get on with the job.

We notice who does the work

Good work doesn't go unnoticed here. That's what the bonuses are based on, and it's who we look at first when there are more hours or more responsibility going.

We'll change how we do things

We're not set in our ways. If you find a better way to do your job, say so, and if it works we'll run with it.

Cleaning Specialist Calgary, AB • Casual to start • $20/hr to start, rising to $22 after probation, then up to $24+ with experience

We're looking for reliable cleaning specialists across Calgary. You'll be cleaning offices, clinics, and similar commercial spaces to a set checklist, to a standard that holds every visit.

Contract and hours

Right now this is a casual role. We're a new company, so we're taking people on casually to start with. As we grow, the plan is to move people onto part time, then full time, and the ones who've been with us from the start get first shot at it. The hours are mostly evenings, overnight, and weekends, scheduled around when clients need us.

What we expect from you

  • You turn up. If you're booked for a shift, you're there and on time.
  • You do the job properly, following the checklist for each site and keeping the standard up every visit.
  • You can work the hours, which are mostly evenings, overnight, and weekends.
  • You're alright working on your own or in a small crew, depending on the site.
  • You can roll with change. Sites get added, shifts move, and someone's off at short notice, so we need people who adjust without fuss and step in to cover when it counts.
  • You look out for the crew. On a shared site you pull your weight, and you leave it set up properly for whoever's in next.

What you'll need

  • A reliable vehicle of your own. You'll be moving between sites across Calgary, and we cover the mileage.
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness. Cleaning is labour-intensive: you'll be on your feet for most of your shift, bending, reaching, and moving equipment, and you'll need to be able to lift and carry 40 to 50 lbs comfortably.
  • The right to work in Canada.
  • Enough written and spoken English to use the app, follow the site checklists, and communicate effectively with clients and the office. The job runs through the web app on your phone, so you need to be comfortable reading and using it on your own.
  • A criminal record check.
  • A vulnerable sector check (preferred) for sites with vulnerable people, like hospitals, clinics, or childcare. We'll let you know if a job needs one.
  • WHMIS certification (preferred). If you don't have it already, we'll get you set up. You'll need it for the cleaning products, and we provide it as part of your induction.

Experience helps, but the right attitude matters more. We'll show you how we do things.

Pay and progression

  • You start at $20 an hour. That's above the going rate for commercial cleaning in Calgary, and it's your rate from day one, before any bonuses are added.
  • Automatic pay rises, written into policy. After your three-month probation your pay rises automatically to $22 an hour. On your one-year anniversary it rises again, up to $24 an hour depending on performance, and it keeps going up from there as your experience, training, and duties grow, without you ever having to ask.
  • Good work earns bonuses. Clients rate the crew after every clean, and those ratings feed into performance bonuses. The better and more consistent your work, the more you take home on top.
  • Uncapped referral bonuses. Know a business that needs cleaning, or a good cleaner who'd fit in here? Refer them and you earn a bonus when it works out, with no limit on how many you can earn.

Why we can say “above the going rate”: two independent government wage surveys put the going rate for this work in Alberta at around $18 an hour. Those are the Government of Alberta Wage & Salary Survey (median $18.00, average $18.48) and the federal Job Bank, drawn from the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey (median $18.20; most Alberta light-duty cleaners earn $15 to $23). Your $20 start sits above both, before bonuses, rising to $22 after probation and up to $24+ with experience.

Your Cleaning Specialist portal

We built our own web app for the people doing the work, made around how a cleaning round actually runs. It all sits on your phone. From it you can:

  • See your jobs and shifts, so you always know what's on and where.
  • Follow your route, with your stops in order and directions to each one.
  • Work through the checklist for each site, so there's never any guessing what's expected.
  • Check your pay and payslips, and see when you're next paid.
  • See your mileage worked out automatically and reimbursed, with nothing to log or claim.
  • Get the access details for each site: keys, fobs, alarm codes, and where to find things.
  • See the ratings clients leave after each clean, so you know how you're doing.
  • Track your bonuses and when your next scheduled pay rise is due.
  • Book time off and set the days you can work.
  • Message the office to flag a problem or a shift you can't make, without phone tag.
  • Flag when you're running low on supplies so it gets sorted early.
  • Clock in and out on site, and upload before-and-after photos where a job needs proof.

Thanks for reading this far. If it feels like a fit, put an application in, and don't be put off if you don't tick every box, the right attitude counts for more than a perfect resume here. A real person reads every one, and we'll be in touch if it looks like a match.
